Mayan Biosphere Reserve Guatemala

Guatemala, Petén, Indigenous group Itza once had a big representation in Yucatan. Today the last tousand Itzas live at lake Itza at the edge of the Mayan Biosphere Reserve. There are only 17 fluent speakers left, coresponding to the beginning of rainy season in May Itza people burry a Pig in a selfmade stove in the ground, the next day they dance with the head of the pig in their community
